Restoring air conditioning for the new term. Planning boiler servicing ahead of winter. Two sides of our work, with the same aim: keeping buildings comfortable and ready for the people who use them.
This month, we’re sharing two updates from our school sites, practical advice on refrigeration care, a little team news and three checks for your autumn maintenance plan.
AIR CONDITIONING · BRIGHTON COLLEGE PREP – HANDCROSS
Back up and running for the new term.

When an air-conditioning system providing both heating and cooling failed at Brighton College Prep Handcross, 4Facilities was asked to investigate. Our testing identified a failed compressor and an inconsistent supply from the inverter circuit board. Both components needed replacing.
Although another contractor had installed the system in 2023, we liaised with the manufacturer and secured the replacement parts under warranty.
With the parts fitted and the system commissioned, it was back up and running for the start of the new term. A practical result for the school, with the diagnosis, manufacturer liaison and repair brought together.
BOILERS & HEATING · ARDINGLY COLLEGE
A service date that leaves time to act.

At Ardingly College, we have restructured the boiler-servicing schedule so the work takes place ahead of winter. The aim is to leave time for any remedial work and repairs before the heating is needed most.
It is a useful question for any site manager: does your service date leave enough time to act on the engineer’s findings? Reviewing the visit schedule alongside access arrangements and outstanding recommendations can make the next steps easier to plan.
COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION
Keeping your cool behind the scenes

For hotels, restaurants and busy commercial kitchens, reliable refrigeration is essential every day. Worn door seals, restricted airflow and a build-up of dirt on condenser coils can make equipment work harder and use more energy. Changes in temperature, unusual noises or repeated icing are worth investigating before they become a bigger disruption.
Planned maintenance helps identify developing problems and keep equipment running efficiently. If you have a recurring fault or would like to review the maintenance of your fridges, freezers or cold rooms, get in touch with 4Facilities.
YOUR AUTUMN CHECKLIST
Three things to put on the list now.
01 · Confirm the next service. Check the date, the equipment included and how engineers will get access. Flag term times, opening hours or restricted areas early.
02 · Revisit outstanding recommendations. Gather any repair proposals and service-report actions. Agree what needs attention first and who will make the decision.
03 · Keep recurring faults in view. Note the rooms, units or alarms that caused trouble over summer. Dates and staff observations give your engineer a useful starting point.
