Wall-mounted Split Units
Wall-mounted split units are a sleek, efficient solution for cooling individual rooms such as bedrooms, lounges, or home offices. Designed to blend into your décor, they offer powerful performance with whisper-quiet operation.
A basic split system consists of two main components: an indoor unit and an outdoor condenser unit, connected by refrigerant pipework and electrical cabling. The indoor unit circulates the room’s air, cooling or heating it as needed, while the outdoor unit performs the heat exchange process that enables temperature control. These systems do not bring in fresh air, but instead condition the air already within the room.
Multi-split A/C Systems
Multi-split systems connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor condenser - ideal for maintaining individual comfort zones throughout homes. They offer a seamless balance of style, efficiency, and control, without cluttering your exterior space.
This system involves multiple indoor units connected to one or two outdoor units. Each fan coil is required to operate on the same function – either all on cooling or all on heating. Depending on the configuration, you could have up to five indoor units linked to two outdoor units.
Heating, Cooling & Heat Recovery - What's the Difference?
Split and multi-split air conditioning systems use heat pump technology, allowing them to provide both heating and cooling. A single split system can heat or cool one room independently. With multi-split systems, several indoor units are connected to one outdoor unit - but all rooms must be in the same mode (either heating or cooling) at any one time.
In contrast, VRV/VRF systems with heat recovery can simultaneously heat and cool different areas of a property, making them ideal for larger homes or spaces with varied usage patterns.
For most home air conditioning needs, a heat pump system delivering either cooling or heating is usually sufficient.
